Outline
The treatment of ageing symptoms (lines & wrinkles) is undoubtedly the largest and most rapidly growing sector within the beauty industry – the main cause is the loss of collagen which is a normal occurrence – it varies in terms of intensity and onset but it is treatable. When you first consider treatments for line and wrinkle reduction the obvious and most popular route is Botox and/or collagen – they are well established as the leading treatments in this area with very good reason - they are effective and produce rapid results.
Botox & Fillers - How the treatments work
Any procedure which involves an injection of this type should be performed by a qualified medical practitioner. At Elite Beauty Care these procedures are carried out by a qualified Registered General Nurse with over 20 years nursing experience. Vivienne Kimber is also a member of Royal College of Nursing forum on Aesthetic Medicine. A comprehensive range of treatments are available – further details available on request.
Botox
Botox is highly effective for the treatment of expression lines such as “Crow’s Feet” and forehead frown lines. These lines are caused when overactive muscle movement wears away the collagen in the skin, which in turn causes the skin to crease or ‘wrinkle’. Botox works by relaxing muscle and thus preventing wrinkles and smoothing out lines. The procedure is painless and takes about 10 to 20 minutes. Botox injections need to be repeated every few months as the Botox is broken down by the body. It is a non-surgical, treatment which can temporarily reduce lines caused by over expression of certain muscles such as frown lines between the brows and crows feet. It is used for people between the ages of 18 to 65. No recovery time is needed and you should begin to see an improvement within 3-4 days and results usually last up to 3/4 months.
Dermal fillers (Collagen Implants)
These are frequently used to treat deep smile lines, smoker’s lines around the lips, cheek contour depressions, and facial scars. Dermal fillers can also be used to “plump up” the lips and add fullness to them. They are made from a variety of materials - there are dermal fillers derived from collagen, some which come from animal sources. Other fillers are synthetically produced in laboratory and are derived from hyaluronic acid. Fillers derived from both collagen and hyaluronic acid is temporary biodegradeable products which last 3-9 months depending on the product and the amount used. Fillers made using collagen will require a skin test whereas fillers made from hyaluronic acid may not. Fillers are administered in broadly the same way as Botox but in general tend to last somewhat longer.
